Palm Beach County credit union breakdown handcuffs customers

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla .– In the past two days, thousands of clients at a Palm Beach County credit union have been unable to access their accounts.

Members of the Guardians Credit Union are limited in the transactions they can make.

Contact 5 learned that they can use their debit cards, but cannot perform many mobile banking functions, such as using their phone or computer to transfer money from their savings to checking accounts.

Sandy Harris is among thousands of clients affected by the Guardians Credit Union outages.

Guardian posted on its website that it was having problems with the internet and phone lines, but did not provide details on the cause of the problem.

Customers tell Contact 5 that their inability to check their balance is causing them headaches.

“I have my own household bills that I keep on top of. My credit rating is important to me, and I panic because I can’t pay my bills mainly because I don’t know what’s on my count, and I don’t want anything to bounce back, ”said Sandy Harris of Palm Springs.

WPTV left messages for the president and two vice presidents of the credit union, but they didn’t comment on the situation.

According to the United States Credit Union website, Guardians Credit Union has nearly 30,000 customers.
